April 21, 43 Wednesday

Well I've been in just two months yesterday. Oh, for the life of a civilian. We are getting better meals so I guess I shouldn't XXX. Boy, what a day I had today. I'm just about dead. I went through my classes all right today but an hour before I was ready to take my physical exam I was called out for a tetanus shot. Oh yes, I had an hour of drill before the test also. Now for the test. It consisted of only three exercises, namely: sit ups, pull ups, and a shuttle run. For the sit ups you had to place your hands behind your head and then sit up and touch your right knee with your left elbow and then alternate every time. Well I could only do 50 of these. Next we had to chin ourselves. That's where I flopped. Maybe it was the shot but I guess it was just me. I only did 7 of them. The shuttle run was a sixty yard run you had to make five times. You had to go around a stake at each end and it was very slippery. I made the 300 yard total with turns in 53 seconds. Well, when I figured out my score it was 55. New there were five groups: Very Poor, Poor, Good, Very Good, Excellent. The first group included 10 to 33 and so on up. Well, I was in the Good group. That was the middle group and I was in the very middle of it so I guess I'm just average. I sure was tired when I finished. I got a letter from Sammy today and one from Em. I hope you have the gardens dug by this time. I finished the last of the cookies today. I think I like the peanut butter ones the best. If I ever get time I'll go swimming - they say the water is warm. The latest rumor is that we start flying Monday and ship next Monday.

Well, that's all for now so good night.

Love, Rae
