Monday April 12

Well today was the first day of school. I didn't do much in classes but got acquainted with the teacher and subject and got our books. I'm taking English, History, and Geography. For English I got a dictionary, a grammar book, a composition guide book, and a book of words with definitions - just aeronautic terms. For an assignment we have to know 45 words for tomorrow. In Geography, I got a text book and a book with maps in it. For our first assignment we have to read the Introduction in the book. In History, all we got was a text book but over half the book covers the 20th century. I haven't time to tell you what the subjects deal with, but I will tomorrow. We had P.E. (physical Ed) for an hour and it was calestenics. When we got through we had to run around the track once. We also had an hour of drill this afternoon.

I got your six cookies and box of crumbs and also the box of candy and gum. I got two letters from you today, one from San Marcos. I took a shower before supper and after supper watched the girls play tennis for a little while - then I looked through my history book the rest of the evening. I learnt my english words in free periods today. For supper tonight we had pork chops and all the milk you wanted. We were called out at about 9:30 tonight for roll call and we didn't get in until 10:30. So I'm trying to write this before the lights go out. Our Eng course is supposed to to help us in comprehensive reading and being able to express our selves orally as well as written. Geography covers map reading, climate, weather conditions, and regional climates. History is supposed to cover present affairs with just enough old history to be able to understand the present.

Well, that just about covers it so I'll get undressed before the lights go out.

Love, Rae
