Tuesday April 13

Well the second day of school is over and I haven't much to say. All the subjects are easy so far as studying goes. I get just about all my work done in class study periods. For English tomorrow I just have to read two chapters in the text and for History the first 23 pages. For Geog. I'm supposed to go out and look at the stars. What really gets me is the P.T. Boy oh boy, they're either going to kill us or make iron men out of us. We only have it for an hour but in that hour there is no break or rest period. We start exercising to the instructor's count and when he thinks you've done enough of the one exercise he stops but we continue. As we exercise we watch him and he does the next exercise so we know what's coming, then he does what we're doing once or twice. He says "change exercise" and then we stop and everyone says "and" and then we go on to the next one. This process goes on for a half to three quarters of an hour. Finally, he said "halt" and I just took a deep breath when he said "now around the track twice," running of course, "and over to the chinning bar." After running around the track twice I dragged myself over to the chinning bar and all I could do was six times. I sure will be glad when swimming starts next week XXX. I'll have one day free from exercises.

I got your cakes today and it sure was swell. All the group said it was swell, too. I got a letter from you and one from S. Wallace. I turned my two khaki shirts in today to exchange them for smaller ones. The necks were 15 and one half. Tonight I watched our boys play the college boys in basketball. We lost of course but it was fun to watch.

Well, I have to read some English yet so I better close.

Love, Rae
