Sunday June 13, 1943

Well I guess you noticed the new address, or didn't you. Yesterday we moved into our respective pool squadrons. This squadron no. 9 is a pilot squadron. We will be here until the 24th and then we move to pre-flight. This time we just moved a block away but when we move to pre-flight we will move across the field. Here's a surprise for you. Tomorrow - we leave today - we start on a seven day bivouac. They take us 15 miles out to the foot hills in trucks to the camp and then we stay there for 7 days. When we came back we have to march back without anything to eat except an orange. I don't know much about it but here's what they make us take with us. One set of fatigues, three pair of underwear, two towels, toilet articles except razor, rain coat, two blankets, sox, hankies, complete PT outfit, and a pencil. Lord knows what the pencil is for. I don't think it will be as bad as Sheppard Field, in fact, I'm looking forward to a good time. I don't know if I'll be able to write letters or not, so if you don't hear from me you'll know why. I went to a show last night again. I haven't done much so there isn't much to tell. Since we moved we didn't get to go to Santa Ana for the radio program. So Son only had one date with Barb. I knew he was going to have dates with Winie and two dates with a girl from Purdue. I thought he would have more dates with Barb. Five dates in 10 days isn't so bad, is it. Well, I have to finish packing so I'll close now.

Love,
Rae P.S Tomorrow's the big day isn't it? Have fun.
