Well, I finally got around to writing another letter. First, I'll answer a few questions. No, I have not seen Jack and I don't expect to. As for army life, I'm not complaining - I don't mind it at all - of course, I'd rather be home but that's natural. This week will end the fourth week of school and we're supposed to have eight but you don't always get eight. I had my last math class today and I ended up with a 96% average in the course. Remember those tests I was worrying about, well, they were as bad as I expected. One was an 88 and the other an 82. They brought my total average down to 93%. I was quite disgusted for they were the first tests I gut under 90. Oh yes, I was talking about when I finish here - well, our last day of class is supposed to be Aug. 30.
We had a track meet today in the 1st wind pilot school - that's where I am and our squadron won. We got a trophy to keep in the orderly room. We had 62 points while the second place team got 42 points. We were out on the PT field all afternoon and did I get my face burnt - there're blisters all over my nose. I don't get to go out this weekend for I am Fire Guard on Sunday. I guess it'll give me time to catch up on my letter writing. Boy, I sure can use it.
We have our squadron party on the 17th I guess. We have Charley Spevac orchestra and we are going to get a place on the ocean to dance. It sure will be swell - I hope I get my low shoes by then. I suppose you read about Bud's marriage in the G.E. News by now. Say Pa, those big ships are OK but give me a 450 MPH job with lots of guns and maneuverability. Just wait till I buzz the house with my P-38 - I'll take the cement off the chimney.
I take my final in gunnery Sat. and then I'm through with that course. I also finished my Military hygiene course Sat. We have classes in the morning now so the boys that are getting out get out at 3 PM in the afternoon. I got a letter from Ray King the other day. Well, that's about all the news so I guess I'll say goodnight.
Love,
Rae
