Well, I asked for it and I sure am getting it. Sunday is our off day and my day to write letters. Lets see, last Sunday I spent all morning on guard duty and then had to be in the review in the afternoon. Monday we started classes and then at night we had to go to a show. It was an entertainment put on by the boys here. It was very good. Tuesday I was on MM all day. Wednesday evening I had free but my laundry came back so I spent most of the evening folding everything just so. The rest of the time I GI'd my belt and hat. Tonight we had a GI party. As for our daily schedule, it's the same every day. Up at 5:15 and fall out at 5:35 for roll call and personal inspection. The inspection isn't bad. They only gig you if they can't see their face in your shoes, if your belt buckle doesn't blind them, if your shirt buckle and pants aren't in line, if your clothes are dirty or unpressed. Oh yes, every time we fall out it has to take less than 45 seconds or we all get giged. That means you have to be in formation and dressed up. We fall back in the barracks and then fall out at 6:00 for chow. From 6:45 to 7:45 we get ready for barracks inspection. There can be no dust, we mop the floor every morning and dust everything. Your clothes have to be in the right order and all buttons buttoned. At 7:50 we fall out for PT. We get back from PT at about 9:00 and then we have three quarters of an hour for a shower and change. This is the most time we have all day. At 9:45 we fall out for drill and drill until 10:15. We fall out at 11:00 for chow. At 11:45 we fall out for classes. You march to class and at all times you are under observation of J.O.G (Junior Officer of the Guard). They are supposed to gig everyone they can so you really have to be on the ball. My first class is math, then chemical warfare lecture, next gunnery followed by code and lastly maps and charts. Maps and charts are alternated with air craft identification. One one day and the other the next. We're supposed to have physics but I don't know when it starts. We finish classes at 5:00 and then eat at 5:15. After chow we are free - for GI parties or whatever they have for us. I spend most of my time shining shoes and polishing my belt. How do you like the pen I just got it. You see I didn't have time to finish this letter last night so I'm still writing. We had a PT exam yesterday. It was just like the one at Canyon. This time I did 143 sit ups instead of 50 but I only did 6 chins while the shuttle run was the same 51 seconds. I got the razor blades alright. At first I thought you were hard up when I saw the pen, but Phillup told me civilians have a hard time getting them so when it wears out - which won't be long - I'll buy one here. The latest rumor is that instead of getting paid the 10th of this month well have to wait until the 1st of August. I've got about $27 so I think it will last. Tomorrow I have test in code and math. I hope I do alright. Well, it's late and I still have to do some studying so I better close this.
Love,
Rae
