It's beginning to look like we're going to have another week like we had at San Marcos. We had chow at 7:45 AM and then we fell out and were given a talk about our clothes and stuff. After that we policed the area and then we loafed until dinner. After dinner we were marched to the auditorium and the Captain told us what was expected of us and what we would have to do. After that we had to GI the windows in the barracks (garage). That took about an hour then we were free the rest of the afternoon to stay in our barracks. After supper I laid down on my bed and didn't wake up until bed time 10:30. We got up at 6:15 this morning and now I'm waiting to fall out for roll call and chow.
We're supposed to be on the cadet code. For everything we do wrong they give us a gig. You are allowed so many gigs a week and after that for every gig you walk the ramp an hour on free time. That won't start until we start school so I don't know what you get the gigs for yet. We have to wear only GI clothing so I'll have to send my gym stuff back when I get it. I'll send you one of my GI socks and you can try match it. We are going to have to buy $10.90 worth of gym equipment. Shoes, shirts and etc. You can't use your own because everything has to be the same. We have to keep the bottoms of our fatigue suits buttoned and overbelts fixed just so. You have to wear your fatigue suits all the time and an overseas cap. They moved a bunch of guys out of here so there's only about 80 of us here now. They filled up the swimming pool yesterday so maybe we can go swimming. It was cool here yesterday almost cold enough for a coat but it's warmer today. This may be in the middle of the pan handle but so far, there's been no dust. It sure is desolate country outside of town. There are no trees at all just mesquite bush and red clay. That's all for now.
Love,
Rae
