Well another day is over and I'm still here. We drilled out on the field all morning and this afternoon we had more drill for an hour or so. After that I played catch and then we had mail call. I got two letters, one from you and one from Aunt Bernice. After supper tonight I played baseball for awhile, until dark. Something happened tonight. Usually we've just one bottle of milk. It's a half pint but tonight we could have as much as we wanted so I drank a quart. It's the first time I've had all the milk I've wanted since I left home. It was awful hot today. The sweat poured down and we couldn't take showers because the water pump or something was broke.
We may be here Saturday but not for long after that. You said you would enclose Robin's letter but you didn't. I have been washing my clothes at the field but since I've been here they're just piling up in the barracks bag. You asked if I'm going to buy a hat like Robin's. What hat? I don't know anything about it! He's got a GI hat in his picture. This place is just about 1500 miles from Chicago and that ain't hay. It's funny to hear you talk about the furnace when it's been so hot here. Another guy came down with the measles today. Boy, did he look funny. Too bad he was on the xxxx.
Well I guess that's about all the news from this end so I'll say good night.
Love
Rae
P.S. These letters get shorter and shorter, something better happen pretty soon. These are the pictures I didn't want.
