Dear Mom

I got two letters from you already sent here but the razor hasn't come as yet. I tried but I couldn't find anything to send Con or Ken. It was quite beyond me, besides, I don't have time for that sort of thing. The little free time we do get goes too fast as it is. That sure is swell of Bob and Son getting home in June. Too bad they couldn't meet. As for me, getting home, that's a laugh. It really depends upon how bad they need us on the first of August. If a big push is on we'll go right over, otherwise, I might get 15 days. I don't think much of this town - it's lousy with soldiers. I still like our crew just as much as ever, but I still haven't flown as yet. The other day we flew 5 hours of formation and I was down in the nose taking radio bearings all the time. We were supposed to fly last night but they didn't have enough planes so we didn't have to fly. Today we had the day off because we flew last night - supposedly. We, the skipper, Dan and I went out and played 18 holes of golf. Luckily I kept my shirt on but did I sunburn my face and arms. Dan had a tee shirt on and he really is burnt. I didn't get a very good score, but we sure had fun. Tonight there was a dance at the club so we went over for a while. I hit the jack pot on a nickel slot machine and five minutes later Dan hit one too. The skipper's wife is coming down so he'll be living in town. I bought me a sun tan blouse and pants today - palm beach. It's a real course weave like burlap. I could use two more sun tan shirts. Some light weight things that aren't too hot. I've been looking for some slacks, but they don't have my size. Boy, I bet my nose blisters. It's sure lucky I had my shirt on. I wanted to take it off but I didn't have a tee shirt on so I couldn't. Well Pa, you should be about through with all your working by now. Too bad I can't be there to help you paint. Say, what color did you have the furniture covered in? I sure like Aunty Eva's. Well, it's late so I'll close for now - will try and write more often.

Love,
Rae
