Well, what number is this - 114?

Nothing has happened here as yet. Yesterday I signed in and got all my papers fixed up. This morning we went to the dentist and had our teeth checked - next we get a lecture by the CO. We live in barracks. Upper and lower bunks - a porter keeps the place swept and the latrines clean. I guess it's going to be alright. We get Sunday off now. Boy, that's something. We can leave the post whenever we want - that is when we have nothing scheduled. I have to laugh - now that we're officers we're not allowed to go to the officers club - that's for permanent party only - we can't go to the U.S.O. cause that's for enlisted men. Boy, it sure is swell having the privileges of an officer. To top it off, we went to town last night and we couldn't walk down the streets without saluting our arm off. This is a hell of a war. I guess I should have been in the last one. It's pretty warm down here but it cools off in the evening. I bought a pair of gym shoes at the PX for $3. They're good ones too. The main drawback here is the food - not so hot and the laundry is lousy. I can't tell you much for I don't know nutting. Say, send me your stocking size. If I ever go to Mexico I might find some nylons or sumping. They're certainly isn't much to do in this town, it's too small. Well, it's time for the lecture so I'll send this off.
