Dear Mom,

I got your letter today so I got on the ball. Thanks for the reminder. I forgot all about it. I still haven't done anything for Con. It's really got me stumped. Robin's home now isn't he? Too bad I can't be there - how does he look? Send me a picture of him in his new suit. We didn't fly today after all. There weren't enough planes to go around. You say it's hot up there eh? Today it was only 90 degrees F here. My arms are all peeling. My visor protects my nose so it don't get burnt at all. This morning I spent two hours in the DR trainer. It's the dead reckoning navigation trainer. You sit inside and plot course from a given air speed. There is a drift meter and it really works. The trainer moves and you have to be able to tell just where you are in reference to a map. It sure was fun. Then I spent two hours on the bomb trainer. They have a Norden bomb sight mounted up on a platform and you sight on a little target and a thing marks where the bomb hits. It's really a lot of fun. I can set one up. If all the data is already in it and I hit the target too. I really got a bang out of using it. I wrote to Doris once from Lincoln but not since then. My correspondence list is too long as it is. I have a hell of a time keeping up. Well, that's all for now. Say, how long does it take to get free mail? Oh, another thing, just because I slipped up on mother's day don't think I forgot your birthday. I had to warn you or you'd have been too shocked. Now I bet you're all curious - well, I bet I fool you completely. Say pa, where's that quart? I'm afraid if you ever got one home it would never get any farther. Well, keep cool and think of me on this desert.

Love,
Rae

P.S. Please send your phone number again.
