Dear Mom

I ran out of paper down here so I'll have to use this stationary until I get back to Stockton. A big wind blew up this afternoon so here I am back in my tent. I got 2 and one half hours last night and a hour of formation today. We were supposed to go on a cross country today but it was too cloudy. Believe it or not it's raining now. I don't think it's rained here in years. When we go on cross countries we tune in radio programs and listen to music. It sure is nice. Helps pass the time away. I think we're supposed to finish flying here on the 5th. Say, it seems to me one year ago today I left home for this Army life. I sure was eager to go and right now I'm just as eager to get back. But as bad as it was, I think I'd do it all over again. It's work flying, nothing glamorous about it, but once you fly you just can't quit. There's nothing more grueling than night flying - rough on the nerves but there's something about it that gets you.

Say, don't send any more letters to this address. Mail them to Stockton. --

Just came back from chow - boy is it raining now - really pouring. Guess I'll go to the show tonight. Well, there isn't much to say. I sure am looking forward to my 10 days. By the looks of things I'll be lucky if I get four days at home. Hope I get stationed in Texas for my next post. If I get copilot on a 17 I'll be overseas in 30 days. Sure am hoping for a 26 though. Boy I sure have a lot of things to do when I get home. I'll be going continually. Sure hope I get to see bob. Well, guess I'll go take a shower now so I'll sign off.

Love,
Rae
